NTC encourages Kwala to invest in NTC projects and partnerships to ensure local ownership, enhance awareness of NTC, and guarantee local pride in community projects. Below are several ways that Kwala has given back to NTC and the larger Kwala community.
- Kwala NTC Committee – The Kwala School Community has formed a committee consisting of the headmasters of both schools in Kwala, village leaders, teachers, and students to meet monthly and propose and discuss the progress of NTC projects in Kwala.
Investing in NTC Projects – The Kwala School Community assists in the successful completion of NTC projects by providing local labor and funds that are available to the school. Last month, Headmaster Kitinya paid for the construction of the NTC computer lab and electricity in the NTC Library as well as several other classrooms at the school. He has also started transforming two classrooms into girls’ dormitories for those sponsored by NTC.- Promoting NTC – Mr. Msemakweli, the Kwala Ward Executive, helps to create, publish, and distribute the monthly NTC newsletter in Kwala, informing both school communities and community members about NTC initiatives and visitors.
NTC Project Participation – NTC’s Scholarship Girls volunteer in The Village Reading Corner, an initiative that promotes reading as a leisure activity in Kwala by reading out loud to primary school aged children in Kwala. The girls read Tanzanian children’s books once per week at the reading corner.- Housing NTC Volunteers – Kwala hosts NTC volunteers in teacher’s houses and provides food during their visit.
- Participation in Cultural Exchange – Kwala gives back by offering us their beautiful culture and a valuable global learning experience for children in the United States. Students and teachers readily participate in cultural exchange projects with schools in the United States; assisting American students in enhancing their understanding of Tanzanian ways of life.

Teachers, school administrators, community leaders, students, and NTC representatives gather for the first monthly Kwala Committee Meeting
